Newsflash - PMS* Headlines in October

PMS* at League of Legends - Ring of Champions 2010

We were invited to join the League of Legends - Ring of Champions tournament sponsored by Air Asia, informatics, Razer and partnered by SCOGA and Garena. There was a total of 8 teams from 4 countries.

As we have never played the game before (as with a few other teams), it was quite an eye opener as we struggled with learning the runes and masteries just moments before the game commenced. We placed 7th on the kill table after day one and proceeded to the knockout stage on day two.

Our first game was against the Singapore powerhouse Another Story, who eventually won the tournament. Some highlights in the game was when iceiceice was tossed in by cyn then taken down by tammy and me on the middle lane (even though he had an ally nearby). hurhurhur. Or when there was a clash with the guys at mid and we won it with very lovely effort from everyone - the crowd went crazy on this.

Overall it was a very fun experience (although we had to wake up very early on a weekend to make it for both days) and I must say that I wouldn't mind playing the game in my free time.

Here's a photo of us with the Garena booth babes. HUAMEN FTW!!!!

New PMS* member Hui Zhen on New Paper New Face

If you bought the New Paper on Tuesday (yesterday), you would have seen our very own PMS|Chewy*, or Eliza Tan Hui Zhen on the New Face challenge. Doesn't she look hot here??

She's also very bubbly and nice, as we found out after spending two days with her during the LoL-ROC tournament, so she has looks with a personality to match. What a lucky guy Xinglei is... =D

After the shoot she was also interviewed by Razor TV. Check this out.

Newsflash - PMS* Headlines for July

I met a PMS* fan in Singapore Room 20 yesterday and he asked if Asterisk* was inactive. And the answer is clearly NO we're not. If you have been following our Facebook, you'll know we have been doing lots of gaming-related stuff in addition to tournaments like WCG (we got through to second round, and lost to Maki/Guowen/Purify's team!!).

Here are some updates.

Dawn featured on ST Sunday Life!

=Þinksheep* on Straits Times Sunday 11 July (click to expand)

I did an interview for Straits Times - Life! on my favourite reads. It's an old list - I have been in love with these three for a good ten years now. Maybe you can suggest some new reads that will capture my interest?

Tammy fronts Game-To-Read Hour

furryfish* for GTR Hour

In the same vein, Tammy's also been "booked". Join the Game to Read group where you can take part in "Questions of the Day" to win GV tickets. (Obviously, only available to local participants, but you can take a shot at it as well.)

Eliza takes on a new role - as an actress!

msjovial* caught in focus behind the scenes

Latest on Eliza's plate is her playing the character of Proxy in an interesting Cyberwellness webisode that allows you to "Choose Your Adventure" for different outcomes. Keen to try it out? Stay in the loop for the announcement of the launch!

Eliza on playing Proxy:
"Wa... U know acting really not easy. Multi tasking and so warm in that suit. But I really learnt a lot along the way. Very good experience."

Tammy and Huayan back from ESWC Paris 2010

Huayan and Tammy in Paris, Disneyland

Look out for a dedicated post on this! Coming soon.

ESTC 2010 Winter - PMS* attendance confirmed
We have been invited to the annual ESTC Winter tournament in Bangkok Thailand. Tickets have already been bought. Tammy, Cynthia, Huayan and Eliza will be leaving on 12 October, Dawn and Kimberlyn on 14 October.

PMS picks up new female Asian team

We are delighted to announce that we have a new sister team from the Philippines! Join us as we welcome PMSki into the family. ♥

PMSki at a local LAN event

PMSki at a local LAN event

Co-founded by Rea Lynne Aguinaldo and Eleanore Kuo, PMSki is the first-ever all-girls DotA team in the Philippines and (as you can see above) have already started competing at LAN tournaments.

Our very own Tammy "furryfish*" Tang, leader of PMS Asia, has been quoted saying
"We are very pleased to announce that we've added PMSki girls (mski's female team) to our Asian roster. They are a hardworking team with a great attitude. We're looking forward to incorporating our sister team from the Philippines into our 2010 trainings and events!"

=D PMSki interviewed in Manila

PMSki.reahdoo, leader and spokesperson for PMSki has also been quoted, in response
"PMSki is thankful to PMS for giving us this opportunity. We vow to work extra hard with a smile on our faces even when faced with obstacles. We are so excited to work with everyone!"
Yes indeed, we too are very excited to get to know everyone! Let's have a read about what they have to say in their introduction on Facebook.
In 2005, Eleanore Kuo aka mski.eLLe, who was known for her Counter Strike skills started playing DotA . On the same year, Rea Aguinaldo aka mski.rheadoo also began learning the game. Since both were always present in tournaments and events, Elle and Rea soon became acquaintances. Soon they were playing alongside each other often in Garena or in LAN pub games. The idea to make an all-girls team started around 2008 when Roro kept pestering them to create an all-girls team but they said it was too difficult since finding girls who were dedicated to the game was like searching for a needle in a haystack. They came across a few girl gamers as the years went by but the two always ended up being the ones left. Soon Katrina Ferrer aka mski.hottiekath came into the picture. She was spotted by the two chatting away in the Mineski Grounds room with her gg id: BhabieKathkath who seemed to take a lot of attention from the gamers. They were making fun of the way she typed, always with an ` before starting a sentence. She became known for always hanging out with team Pagibig. Neither of them realized she would soon be one of their friends and future teammate. Months went by then team Theos became known. Everyone was saying there was this girl from Theos who played like a guy and that was Joy Eusebio aka mski.Joy. Thru constant playing in Garena she was soon regarded as one of THE girls. And so, there were 4. One more and they were all set. Ana Bartolome aka mski.miele! mushroomed out of nowhere. Kidding! She frequented MG and befriended the Mineski team who later on introduced her to Elle and Rea. Since there were plenty of girl gamers around Rea thought of seriously starting the all-girls team. And that was that! They debuted as team Pmski during the first AMPGL. During the second AMPGL they invited Foxy Lady/ Girlie Policarpio to play with them since they lacked one player and just recently Pmski have added Sheela Bantegui aka mski.shane to their roster.

~To date Pmski is the country's pioneer all-female DotA team.

*** I know you have questions regarding the origin of our team name so here's the real deal: it's PECHAY Mineski. Pechay is an inside joke in the Mineski family for a girl gamer. We can also say that the P in pmski is for pagibig, pagibig.mineski since all girls are friends with both teams which are by the way two of the top teams in the Ph. There is an international team of all-girl gamers which is named PMS. We did not fashion our name from them it was just a coincidence when we made the clan tag but we are in talks with them if they will accept us as one of them.

♥ Ma. Katrina A. Ferrer, 18 yrs old = soloista/ mascot
♥ Girlie Ysabel Policarpio, 18 yrs old = 6th superwoman
♥ Sheela Bantegui, 18 yrs old = pgl shoot messiah :D
♥ Ana Bartolome, 21 yrs old = tactician
♥ Rea Lynne Aguinaldo, 21 yrs old = founder/ team speaker
♥ Marjorie P. Eusebio, 21 yrs old = mid-laner/ taga-buhat
♥ Eleanore Kuo, 22 yrs old = co-founder/ leader

Winning isn't everything to us, but it's a close second. That's what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we've changed because of it and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning.

I don't know about you, but I really like their attitude. =D Expect to seem them garbed in PMS attire soon, and at least at one overseas LAN event (hopefully at SMM) this year.

Their next tournament is this Saturday, 27 March so show your support by being a fan of PMSki on Facebook right now!!

Iron.Lady Championship 2010 Day 2

Hi fellow gamers, friends, fan's and strangers!,

Here are some updates from Day 2 of the exclusive all-girls showdown, Steel-Series Iron.Lady Championships 2010 live from Shanghai! As mentioned by kellymilkies*, PMS|Asterisk*'s Singapore correspondence, they won Day 2!! Congrat's girls!

Earlier on yesterday, PMS|Asterisk* had their second day of game's against Local Chinese Team Steel|KK. Since the local chinese Team Steel|KK had already won the King of Fighter 1 vs 1 the day before yesterday, all they needed was to win the 2v2's in order to claim the 5,000 RMB from the individual games, whilst PMS|Asterisk* needed the win to form a tie and bring the competition of the 5,000 RMB to the last remaining third day.

Min & Sara from Steel|KK won the first 2v2 game against PMS|Asterisk*, made up of w4nderz- & Pinksheep-, however a combination of Shizuma & Kimchi from PMS saved the day, beating Ruru & Naonao, Mint & Sara, and bringing the tournament into Day 3 which will then be played on a 5 vs 5 format.
The winner of Day 3 will walk away with the Championship Title and 15,000 RMB. In this challenge, it will be 5 vs 5, captain format.Good luck girls!!

Iron.Lady Championship 2010 : Update!

Hello friends, fans, foes and the random strangers...!

PMS Asterisk* landed at Pudong International Airport on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday (Shizuma arrived on Thursday after stopping by at Singapore for half a day). They had a pleasant and safe journey, especially with the very jovial, Eliza!

According to the girls, it is very very VERY extremely COLD there right now and they're all freezing. We'll see what else they come up with in time to come.. Apparently, they mentioned they went to shop at Nanjing Street and... got lost.. Grats girls!!

They've been at the studio for the past 2 days, there's sure to be lotsa nice photo's for all their fan's and friends! They just did an outdoor photoshoot and it was really cold as they were only wearing the Steelseries dresses and standing out in the streets posing for nice photo's. They simply can't wait to share more pix with everyone when they're back!!

Another highlight so far is the Xiao Long Bao's which according to the girls, are really delicious, especially the salted egg ones.. (strange taste).

Last but not least, here is a link to some photo's taken during the photoshoots! Enjoy!

Iron.Lady Championship 2010: Update

Hello friends, fans, foes and the random stranger...

PMS Asterisk* will be heading to snowy Shanghai on Tuesday, Wednesday this week. Weather looks really chilly, plus the winds from the sea will be -10 from what you see here.

We bought lots and lots of jackets, socks, clothes, hats and scarves hope it will be enough to fend off the cold! Hahaha... pictures should be quite amusing. *thinks of being wrapped up in 3-4 layers of wool*... just like my namesake.

The lineup for this event will be as follows:

We're glad to announce that Shizuma, a well-known Malaysian DotA player will be joining us for this event.

There will be no blog feature this week. It will resume next week when we're back, with Kimberlyn//Kimchi* taking over the helm.

In the meantime, kellymilkies* will be our Singapore correspondence for Iron.Lady 2010. We will try to update her as frequently as we can so you'll know what we're up to! =)

Wish us fair winds and good luck!
