Dota 2 Celebrity Charity Challenge

You have probably heard about the "Love is in the Air" celebrity challenge, where four DotA 'couples' will play against each other to raise US$2000 for Child's Play. Now aside from the fact that there are two of our PMS* girls in it (furryfish* and pinksheep*), there are a few other things that deserve focus.

Firstly, it marks the return of Ben "Merlini" Wu to DotA. Undoubtedly one of the best skilled and favourite in US DotA, some best moments sees him playing and owning with Zeus for the MYM dreamteam back in their heydays. He pairs up with his sweetheart Emily "Sayuri" Weiss in what I would consider a very potent combination - I mean, who else can beat a couple at their own game?!

Merlini as Zeus & Sayuri in some really neat artwork by alicexz from deviantart.

Secondly, if you have been following the scene in some way or other, you would definitely know the powerhouses of Na'Vi, Evil Geniuses and Fire (the dark horse that emerged in TPL, beating teams like Na'Vi and AL). Which will feature one player each in the other three teams.

Na'Vi.Dendimon, EG.MiSery- and Fire.Jeyo respectively.

In addition, to get some extra $$ for the kids at Child's Play in a post-game auction, alicexz has also done up some really cool artwork of Dendi as Pudge with furryfish* sitting on top and looking like she's really having a great time. I really like this!!

How to Watch
2300 (GMT +8) on 18 February, Saturday on furryfish*'s live stream.

If you're looking for commentary, you can tune in to:
GosuGamers Stream casted by Purge and Luminous
JoinDota Stream presented by TobiWanKenobi

How to Donate
Now we're only aiming to raise US$2000, it's not that big a sum if everyone chips in, even if it's just a dollar. So if you could spare one, click through to GosuGamers where there is a donation ticker at the bottom of the article.

There will also be a lucky draw element, where some lucky fans will walk away with a customised mousepad featuring the artwork above (there will be two) and some other things.

So see you at the games.

And have a great weekend.

The Hottest Female Gamers in Asia

It’s an ordinary morning, I’m rushing to work , my sinus is acting up and there are no cabs to be found when I need them.
Ordinary.
Until I check out my facebook updates and see this post on my wall :

Suddenly my worries shift from "zzz the sun is so hot, why didn't I bring shades" to “oh no what picture did they use??”
It doesn’t help that half a million people are trying to access the page at the same time, so I can’t seem to get it loaded til I’ve reached the office and gotten on my laptop.
I breathe a sigh of relief when I see the picture – it isn’t too bad.
But I quickly realize that I’m featured alongside the likes of Linda Liao, Utada Hikaru, and the legendary Tossgirl.
Wuttt ??
I’m normal, man. (or should I say, woman.) And those other 4, they ain’t normal. As much as I think I might be well known, I’m nowhere near those few.
Perhaps that’s why I’m no. 5!
So it’s with a good-natured chuckle that I post the screen caps :

furryfish* covers RGC Group Stage

August is proving to be a really busy month for all of us. While Cynthia, Kimberlyn and Huayan are busy packing and preparing for their trip to Shanghai, Tammy's in the media limelight once again as she fronts the Group Stage in Razer's DotA Global Challenge.

Join her as she presents the teams that have fought their way up to to the top 64 over the weekend, where you might just pocket a Razer giveaway if you're lucky.

Here's her first entry to whet your appetite.

Entry #1
It’s been a long journey for the teams who have reached this stage. Half of these teams will proceed, and half will fall by the wayside.

Fortunately for the vanquished, they will be given another two chances to prove they are fighting-fit in the subsequent seasons of Razer Global Challenge.

For those who didn’t even make it to this stage...

Newsflash - PMS* Headlines for July

I met a PMS* fan in Singapore Room 20 yesterday and he asked if Asterisk* was inactive. And the answer is clearly NO we're not. If you have been following our Facebook, you'll know we have been doing lots of gaming-related stuff in addition to tournaments like WCG (we got through to second round, and lost to Maki/Guowen/Purify's team!!).

Here are some updates.

Dawn featured on ST Sunday Life!

=Þinksheep* on Straits Times Sunday 11 July (click to expand)

I did an interview for Straits Times - Life! on my favourite reads. It's an old list - I have been in love with these three for a good ten years now. Maybe you can suggest some new reads that will capture my interest?

Tammy fronts Game-To-Read Hour

In the same vein, Tammy's also been "booked". Join the Game to Read group where you can take part in "Questions of the Day" to win GV tickets. (Obviously, only available to local participants, but you can take a shot at it as well.)

Eliza takes on a new role - as an actress!

msjovial* caught in focus behind the scenes

Latest on Eliza's plate is her playing the character of Proxy in an interesting Cyberwellness webisode that allows you to "Choose Your Adventure" for different outcomes. Keen to try it out? Stay in the loop for the announcement of the launch!

Eliza on playing Proxy:
"Wa... U know acting really not easy. Multi tasking and so warm in that suit. But I really learnt a lot along the way. Very good experience."

Tammy and Huayan back from ESWC Paris 2010

Look out for a dedicated post on this! Coming soon.
